Identity of Ekwulobia Prison Inmate freed by gunmen revealed by NCS

Nigeria Correctional Service Anambra State Command has revealed the identity of the Ekwulobia Prison inmate freed by suspected gunmen after the attack on its officers on their way back from court in Nanka.

This was made known through a press release by the command’s public relations officer DSC Francis Ekezie who gave the inmate’s name as CHIDI NWANKWO.

As the press statement reads

“He was forcefully released after killing of the officers escorting him whom one of the is a police officer,Below are his details

Name: Chidi Nwankwo

Custody Number: C/No: 28/2021

Sex: Male

Age: 46 years

Charge No: MCNA/16c/ 2021

Offence: Secs;82& 83of criminal code law Anambra State (accessories after the fact-definition of & accessories after the fact to felonies).

Date of remand: 17/03/2021.

Court of remand: Magistrate Court 2 Nanka, Anambra State

State of Origin: Anambra

Tribe: Igbo

Religion: Christian

Native of Enemuogo kindred,Umudiabo village,Ndiowuu in Orumba North L.G.A. of Anambra State”.

The inmate was accused of assisting his brother,Anayo Nwankwo who is being tried of arson to escape, which brought about his arrest and subsequently freed by unknown gunmen on Friday.

The Anambra State Command of Nigeria Correctional Service has placed a cash prize of N200,000 for any useful information leading to his recapture.
