CRUDE OIL IS GOING EXTINCT, WE MUST RETURN BACK TO THE BASICS – GOVERNOR SOLUDO

By Anthony Chukwuemeka Eri

Speaking at the official launching of the 2022 farming season held today Wednesday June 15th 2022 at Dr Alex Ekwueme Square Awka, Mr Governor, Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo CFR addressing the crowd stated that; “we have come today to do three things. The first one is to flag off the 2022 farming season, the second is to launch a new framework for agriculture; going back to the roots of organic agriculture and flagging off new initiatives which is to revitalize palm revolution. We abandoned palm oil when we discovered crude oil but we must go back to the drawing board. In addition, to launch a new economy, coconut and palm economy in Anambra State.”

Mr Governor revealed that this month of June, no revenue from crude oil came into Anambra State. “We are planting 1 million combined coconut and palm trees every year. We are going into partnership with schools and churches to provide land. Anambra can earn millions of dollar through export of these agricultural commodities. We must maximize our potentials from traditional economy which is agriculture.

“Palm and coconut will be the game changer if Nigeria embraces it beginning from Anambra State. Anambra will become a net exporter of palm and coconut produce. I’m urging farmers to increase their efforts. We are already progressing in rice, cassava, yam, abacha, snails, fish farming, etc. Agriculture will be the bedrock of survival of our new economy. Out of necessity, we must return back to agriculture.”

“Finally, there’s a decline on criminals who invaded Anambra. It won’t fade away in three months but with concerted efforts, it will vanish. Anambra must be a liveable and prosperous homeland. To our youths and women, this new program is your opportunity to empower yourselves. Take your future in your hands. The revolution has began because the solution is here. Our Agriculture sector will not remain the same.”
