Black Thursday in Onitsha as many loose lives in Accident

It was a black Thursday in Onitsha as many people lost their lives in an accident involving a truck carrying a 20 feet container and an 18 seater bus at the Upper Iweka Axis of the City.

According to an eye witness account who choose to be anonymous narrated that this accident was caused by men of the state task force on vehicle emblem, the men of the task force stopped a container laden truck who could not provided the required documents for payment of vehicle emblem, the task force seized control of this vehicle and one of them took the wheel to drive the vehicle to their said office, unfortunately this truck lost control due to mechanical fault and plunged into an eighteen seater bus which was as at that time was fully loaded with passengers injurying many and a number dying at the spot.

Further on the narration of the eye witness, the other men of the task force who were following the truck behind abandoned the Mercedes Benz Salon car which they were moving with and flee from the scene of this incident.

Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps arrived the scene to help the accident victim together with civilian volunteers who were already helping out before their arrival.

As at the time of filing in this report the number of deaths recorded have not been ascertained.

In reaction to this incident truck drivers in Onitsha Metropolis blocked movement on the road demanding that the Governor of the state  must come and address this incident and handle the root cause of it which they keep hammering that it is the men of the task force whom are popularly referred to as ” AGBERO”, this has caused most commuters on that axis to use their feet to get past the area of this incident due to the non movement of vehicles and this is an untold hardship on the people.
