The National Sports Festival tagged #EDO2020 which held in Eso State has come to an end leaving bitter – sweet memories for the Anambra Contingent and the state as whole one of which is our young chap 10 year old Miss Stephanie Onusiriuka who hales from Ihembosi in Ekwusigo Local Government Area becoming the sensation of the tournament by winning one gold medal, two silver and one bronze in different sections of gymnastics, but in all was a poor outing for us.
The Anambra State Contingent finished 17th in the final Medal Table Standing of Sports Festival and 3rd amongst the South-East States by winning 6 gold, 8 silver and 21 bronze Medals bringing it to a total of 35 medals.
This performance is a sharp contrast to our Neighbor Delta State who finished top of the log with 384 medals which comprised of 158 gold, 116 silver and 110 bronze Medals, This poor outing begs to wonder if the State is actually putting in enough efforts to foster the growth of sports in the State.
