Today witnessed an epoch making event in Anambra as the much anticipated International Passenger and Cargo Airport Umueri was commissioned by the Executive Governor of the State Chief Willie Obiano.
This event came with a huge let down as the scheduled first commercial flight, which was supposed to be from Airliner Air Peace which were supposed to be from Lagos and Abuja respectively were both cancelled due to the failure of the airline to obtain clearance to land and the Airport from Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority and the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria.
This sad part of today’s event did not take away the fact that the Anambra Airport is a master piece as all the equipment needed for an airport to functional optimally were on ground and in good shape as the standard met all the hype the airport got.
Prior to the cancelation of the flights the staff of Air Peace were seen attending to prospective passengers who were supposed to fly from the Anambra Airport to Abuja and Lagos.
According to the Governor he said the airport is now open for commercial purposes pending when airlines will start getting clearance to land in the Airport.
