In the early hours of Friday 5th march 2021 the Amobi section of the Ochanja Market caught fire that raze a number of shops in the plastic line of the market, it was gathered from eye witnesses that the inferno occured as a result of poor electrical connections by traders in the market.
This inferno led to loss of huge amount of goods and properties running into hundreds of millions of Naira, The men of the Anambra State Fire Service where no where to be found until the level of damage caused by this inferno got to the extreme.
This begs to question if the fire fighting equipment and personel set up my the state government after the last inferno which occurred in late 2019 is really working or it just offers skeletal services.
