APGA Leadership Tussle; Court of Appeal Rules in Favour of Victor Oye

The Court of Appeal sitting in Kano has nullified the June 30th judgment of Birkin Kudu Division of Jigawa State High Court which gave a judgment that made Chief Jude Okeke the National Chairman of All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA against Chief Victor Oye and granted it power to field Hon. Chukwuma Umeoji as the Candidate of the Party for the November 6th Governorship Election in Anambra.

In a unanimous judgment delivered Tuesday this morning, the Appellate court disagreed with the lower court which ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognize Mr. Jude Okeke as the National Chairman of APGA, The Appeal Court ruled also that the Jigawa State High Court has no territorial or substantive jurisdiction to hear the suit abinitio, The proceedings of the Jigawa State High Court is a nullity. All five issues for Determination resolved in favour of the Appellants.

This Judgement will compel the Independent National Electoral Commission to Recognize Chief Victor Oye as the National Chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA and Prof. Charles Soludo as the party’s candidate for the November 6th Governorship Election in Anambra.
