A 200-Level Student Of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, whose name was given as Daniel of the Department of Philosophy died on Sunday, January 8, after an armed robbery attack at his lodge.
Daniel was attacked by some gun-wielding robbers at Success lodge in Ifite, Awka.
The robbers took his phone. According to reports, Daniel told them to give him his SIM card, one of the armed robbers was in the process when Daniel was shot in the stomach.
He was rushed to the hospital but died due to excessive loss of blood.
This latest unfortunate incident and accumulation of other sad ones have triggered a protest by students of UNIZIK asking the authorities to take urgent steps to arrest the mayhem and level of insecurity bedeviling the Ifite Axis of the University which is mostly inhabited by students.
